Lidköping

The city of Lidköping on Lake Vänern (not to be confused with Linköping) recently celebrated 500 years of being a city. Enjoy exploring the cobblestone streets or the biweekly market. There are plenty of cozy cafes to practice the Swedish art of “fika.” A few blocks from the town/market center my grandfather, and grandfather ran a furniture shop for 65 years with his brothers. A few museums and art shops like the Rörstrand Museum, Water Tower, and local jewelers are scattered around town for those curious about learning a bit of history. There’s plenty of walking by the waterfront to Skogshyddan for a round of minigolf down the street from Gustav’s Mormor (there’s fika there too). Those with vehicles and who want to enjoy local hikes can check out Hindens Rev, a thin 5km peninsula outside of town or make a day trip out to Kinnekulle a hill overlooking lakeVärnen to the east.
